OPERA FUTURES

Founded by Mary Finsterer

Opera Futures is a creative initiative that champions the creation of major new vocal, choral, operatic and orchestral works. Bringing together artistic research, creative development and cultural partnership, it envisions the future of opera, oratorio and large-scale vocal music.

At the heart of Opera Futures is a commitment to artistic excellence, historical inquiry, spirituality and storytelling. Through a process of sustained research and innovation, new works emerge that engage deeply with culture, history and the human experience while contributing to the future of Australian music.

Current projects in development include large-scale works for orchestra, choir, soloists and narrator, created in partnership with leading Australian and international organisations. These works are conceived not merely for premiere performances, but for enduring life within the repertoire through publication, future presentations and international engagement.

Opera Futures reflects a long-term vision: to create works that illuminate the past, speak to the present and resonate far beyond their first performance. Through opera, oratorio and large-scale vocal music, it seeks to create new Australian works of lasting artistic, spiritual and cultural value.

Further announcements regarding projects, collaborations and performance partners will be released as development progresses.
